Home Decorators Collection . . .
Whenever I have space between the tops of my windows and the ceiling, I put something up there. Painted trivets, small pictures, plates, whatever pleases me.
The area above a window is often overlooked as a place for décor, and putting something up there that reflects your personality, and which complements the room, can make all the difference. It doesn’t have to be traditional art work or any specific thing. An interesting place mat, framed, can add a nice touch.
Currently, there are many different types of peel-and-stick wall art that can be used. Don’t just stick with the picture on the package, get creative until you find something that suits you! These things can be applied and removed multiple times so you’re never stuck with what you try.
Another thing to try is small sconces with dried or silk flowers.
Is it a kid’s room? Put a chalk board up there and change the message periodically?
A game or family room? Maybe a smaller version of a game board would add to the theme.
I just love the looks on people’s faces when they look up and realize there’s a mirror, or a shadow box, or something else, over my window. And what you choose can add elegance, style, flair, humor, or just color to a room.
